NEERly Naked Mile
This annual Ambassador event is to spread awareness and provide aid to the homeless population in Boone who struggle with adequete clothing for the unforgiving High Country winters. During the 1 mile run around campus, runners are encouraged to "bare" it all for a cause - down to bathing suit coverage. As a registration fee to participate, runners donate articles of clothing or a monetary donation, all of which are donated to Boone's Hospitality House. The 9th Annual NNM was held on October 24th, 2022 as the annual Appalachian State University homecoming kickoff event.
Canned Food Drive
The Student Ambassadors annual Canned Food Drive is a community-wide food drive that has proven to be the largest food drive in the high country each year. All can and monetary donations go directly to our local Hunger and Health Coalition, benefiting families in Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties. 2021 was our largest drive to date, collecting over 32,000 pounds of food!
This event needs participation from all across Appalachian State's campus and the Boone Community! During the Fall semester, look out for Ambassadors and learn how to get involved! Each year, you can find us next to the two on campus markets, in local businesses, and maybe even on a visit to your apartment complex.
