Reconnect, Plan Ahead, Move Forward

Fall Retreat 2018

This weekend, The Ambassador organization headed to Camp Broadstone for the annual Fall Retreat. This event is meant to allow the organization to reconnect with one another and start the semester running with our duties to Appalachian State University. At this "Survivor" themed event, the Ambassadors took part in team building activities, educational sessions on topics of diversity and inclusion, and were briefed on updates from two of the offices we serve.

Maggie King described Fall Retreat as  "a time where we can share, listen, and learn in a safe space. There are conversations that lead to action in [our weekly meetings] and activities that ensure lasting relationships."

Fall Retreat was such an intentional time with fellow Ambassadors to reconnect at the start of this year and build a framework moving forward. We were able to share with, and better understand one another, in order to utilize individual strengths that are brought into this group. - Caroline Jonkers

Many within the organization look forward to Fall Retreat each year for a variety of reasons. The event this year, however, was the first Fall Retreat for the New Member Class of 2018. Zhen Graham, said "It made me appreciate why so many other family friends recommended and highly praised App State."

Fall Retreat is not only a time to be reacquainted with our fellow Ambassadors, but it is a time to set goals, and imagine the growth we want to see in the group. This retreat gives us time to push ourselves to take on the year with clear eyes and full hearts. -Logan DiFranco
