Spring 2017 New Member Education

Amanda Woolever, New Member Educator for 2017 shared the following about her experience:

"Serving as New Member Educator has given me such an incredible opportunity to serve this organization. My time as an Ambassador began in New Member Education and has gone full circle as I now get to teach the new members every week! I think it’s safe to say this is the most AMBitious group of newbies we’ve ever seen! They have absorbed every bit of information I've given them and look for ways to learn more about the organization, Appalachian, and each other. I’m excited to see how they lead this group as we go through a transition with half the members of the group graduating in one year. I have no doubt these new members will be our strongest class yet and make us so so proud!"

Katie Williford, a new member and third year student shared:

"Being accepted into Ambassadors as a Junior is the best thing that has happened to me while being at App. I have never felt so welcomed and loved by an organization. Ambassadors is made up of many different types of people and I realize there is something that I can learn from each one of them. I am very honored to be apart of such an amazing organization and I will cherish this these people and experience long after I graduate."

Chase Newmyer, a new member and first year student shared:

"My first semester at Appalachian was a good one. I was happy I had finally found a school after touring many locations and paying way too much money applying elsewhere. I heard about the Student Ambassadors through the "Take Root" campaign, however I was unsure if I would apply or not. Holding leadership positions in high school, I did miss working for a common goal with likeminded people. Maggie King, my tour guide before deciding on App messaged me on Facebook and touched base with me. She recommended that I apply to Ambassadors. Through the membership process I learned about everything Ambassadors do and I immediately knew I wanted to be apart of such a great organization. Surprise night was definitely a surprise! However, I didn't expect the family feel and immediate welcome to the group that was expressed for our newbie class. Now, three weeks in, Maggie is my mentor and I learned that I was her first commit on her first campus tour by herself as a newbie last year. What are the odds? I love Ambassadors, my newbie class, and everyone I've had the opportunity to meet. Its only been three weeks and I know I've found friends and fAMBly that will last a lifetime! I look forward to the many experiences and memories that will be made through the next few years here at Appalachian. I was proud to be an App student before Ambassadors, now that pride for my school has grown even more!"
