Nearly Naked Mile
This event is to spread awareness about the homeless population in Boone who sometimes don't have enough to wear in the winter. During the 1 mile run around campus, runners are encouraged to "bare" it all - down to bathing suit coverage. As a registration fee to participate, runners donate a coat or two other articles of clothing and all items are donated to the Hospitality House. The 3rd Annual NNM was held on October 2nd, 2017, hosted by the Student Ambassadors and the Student Government Association. Thanks to all the runners and other donors, over 700 articles of clothing were collected!
Canned Food Drive
The Student Ambassadors canned food drive is a university-wide food drive that helps give back to the surrounding community. All of the cans & money donated go directly to the local Hunger and Health Coalition, benefiting families in Watauga, Avery, and Ashe counties. This event needs participation from all across Appalachian State's Campus and the Boone Community! During the fall semester, look out from promotions from Ambassadors on how to get involved and donate cans! You can find Ambassadors next to the two on campus markets, on Sanford Mall, or even on a visit to your apartment complex.
